Gun Control

Hello,

It’s me, “Ex”. I am writing today to give my full opinion on the gun control issue. As I stand firm with the Constitution of the United States of America, I do recall seeing the 2nd Amendment (That’s #2 on the Bill of Rights) says, “A well regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.”

Hmm, let’s break this down.

A well regulated militia is necessary to the security of a free state

Ok, that makes sense. But what is a “militia”? At the time it was written, it was referring to individual men, regular farmers and townsfolk, who brought the guns that they owned for hunting, to join up and fight the British during the Revolution. Does this definition apply today? After all, we have our “militias” known as the National Guard and Reserve forces. Are we correct to call them militia?

NO

A militia is a force that is not funded by the government. A militia rises and disperses at the will of the people who compose it.

Then what does it mean by a “well regulated militia”?

…the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.

This is what the 2nd Amendment is referring to. Basically the Amendment says this: “The right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed because a well regulated militia is necessary to the security of a free state”. The very Amendment is calling the people the militia and to keep them well regulated means to keep them armed, as keeping them armed is the best defense to the security of a free state.

That settles that. But does this apply to us in the “Modern Era”?

Especially in a time of war, the 2nd Amendment couldn’t be more important. Also, it doesn’t matter what era it is. It seems in this “modern era”, people are just as violent if not more violent than we were in the past. By disarming the innocent, those who are willing to ignore a gun ban law will ignore the gun ban law and use their illegal weapons on the innocent. That’s so obvious is makes my head hurt that millions of people don’t get it. If I had a sword and I said “en gaurde”, and you didn’t have a sword, how is this an even fight? If you had a gun pointed at my head and I had a gun pointed at yours, the only thing keeping you from pulling your trigger is the possibility of me pulling mine if you miss.

Statistics also show that with more gun laws, the more gun crime. Australia is a prime example. They live in the modern era too and people are still violent, in fact violent enough to kill more people as criminals know that they can commit crimes unopposed.

This is why guns are necessary to the SECURITY of a free state. It doesn’t only apply to controlling the federal government, but also protecting us from domestic threats.

I stand with the Constitution and the 2nd Amendment’s wisdom of keeping the people armed as the best defense to the security of a safer and freer nation.
